About

Elephants

Elephants travel in family groups, eating huge quantities of tree branches and shrubs every day, digesting only about 20% of what they eat.

I saw a group of elephants approach a thicket and start tearing off branches and the trees were swaying as if a hurricane was blowing through them, and the bushes were ripped apart. The elephants were tossing their heads and stuffing the vegetation into their mouths. I understood why farmers don't like the elephants that leave the parks and damage crops.

The elephants we saw always kept an eye on us and, as shown above, used their trunks to monitor our scents, and make it clear we weren't to get any closer.
