Hot air balloon
I took a dawn balloon trip over the Maasai Mara. After a pre-dawn launch, we floated for an hour above the brown savannah, watched the sun rise on the animals below us.
We drifted down so quietly over herds of zebra that they stopped grazing to run away only when the captain turned on the burners to stop our descent.
Migrating animals move in almost single files. Here zebra lead a herd of wildebeeste.
Predawn launch
Surprisingly, the seemingly dry land is divided by numerous streams. Trees and shrubs mark the riverbeds.
After landing, we had a champagne breakfast on the savannah.
